Archie Owen played varsity football at the Evansville F. J. Reitz High School under coach Herman Byers and was the 1st undefeated team at Reitz in 1946. He went on the UE Varsity football from 1948-1950 under Coach Don Ping and became a member of two Ohio Valley Conference Championship Teams in 1948-1949. After college, Archie became the assistant football coach at Morganfield, KY from 1951-1953 and assistant coach at North High School from 1955-1960. He was the head coach at Evansville Bosse High School from 1961-1983, with a record of 111-99-13 then retired from coaching in 1983. Archie held many titles: the Defensive Coordinator for North-South All-Stars in 1947; selected as Evansville Football Coach of the Year 7 times; he won or shared 8 City Championships and two Southern Indiana Athletic Conference Championships; and his 1967 team was undefeated.
