Jasper Basketball Coach, Ed Schultheis, grew up in Evansville where he played basketball and football at Memorial in the 1940’s. He earned All City honors in both basketball and football and led the city in scoring his junior year at Memorial. He played college basketball and football for St. Joe College in Indiana, and is a member of their Athletic Hall of Fame. He began his high school coaching as the head basketball coach at Matre Dei in Evansville, where he posted the first consecutive winning seasons in basketball at the school. He moved on to Jasper to become assistant basketball and football coach, before becoming the Head Basketball Coach at Jasper in 1967. He finished his coaching career at Jasper with 163 wins, placing him 2nd on the all time wins list, a position he still holds today. While coaching at Jasper, Ed also won five consecutive Southridge sectional titles (1971-75) and two straight Washington regional titles(1972-73). He finished his coaching with a career record of 201-99. He left coaching in 1977 to become the Jasper Athletic Director, a position he held until his retirement.
