Ron Vonderheide

Ron Vonderheide played basketball for the Ireland Spuds and in 1962, his senior year, was named “1st Team, All-Sectional” and “1st Team, All-Conference “. Ron was also named “Outstanding Player” by the coaches of the Patoka Valley Conference. In 1964, while playing for the Vincennes Trailblazers, he tied the old gym record of 43 points in one game. Ron served his country in the Air Force for four years before returning to the basketball court at Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth, Texas. While there, he led the team in scoring, averaging 21 points per game and was the second leading team rebounder. In 1971, Ron was named “1st Team, All-Conference” by the Big State Conference coaches.
