Starting forward for Bloomington High School, Dan Sparks was the team MVP. He averaged 14 ppg and 15 rpg for Vincennes University’s and was on the 1965 National Championship team. Dan was the team MVP for Weber State’s 1968 NCAA Tournament team. Drafted by NBA’s Cincinnati Royals and played with Chicago Bulls and ABA’s Miami Floridians. Dan then started his career as a coach, holding 869 wins in 33 seasons as coach at Vincennes University and Wabash Valley Junior College. He took his team’s 14 times to the National Tournament and earned multiple Coach of the Year awards. Dan left Vincennes in 2005 as Indiana’s winningest college coach (706). He was named 1986 NABC National Coach of the Year and coached six future NBA players.
