David Wesley Small

David Wesley Small played for the Ireland Spuds varsity team. He was the starting guard and had an overall record of 41-2. David was a member of the Patoka Valley Conference with a two-year record of 36-0. His senior year he was the team captain, starting guard, had an overall record–20-5 (including tournaments) and went undefeated in Patoka Valley Conference gamesDavid had many recognitions, such as All Patoka Valley Conference MVP (made up of 11 southern Indiana schools), All Sectional, All Regional, All Semi-State (Evansville), leading scorer in Dubois County, averaging 19.8 points per game, leading scorer in the Patoka Valley Conference and Patoka Valley Conference Player of the Year. David continued his basketball career at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. He played basketball and baseball all four years, was the co-captain of the freshman basketball team, averaged 10.2 points per game and was a four year starter on the APSU baseball team. After college he began coaching, he was the head coach for three years at Tampa Bay Tech High School, coached the 9th grade team at Monroe Junior High School for three years with an overall coaching record 64-39 with one 9th grade county championship. He played and coached basketball 25 years in the Tampa city league.
