Jack “Jumping Jack” Steinhart

Jack Steinhart of Ireland was the Spuds leading scorer with 346 points for an average of 15.7 points per game. His hard work and all around efforts All Patoka Valley Conference and Conference MVP. Jack had excellent timing and was a great jumper, this is how he earned the nickname “Jumping Jack”. Jack held the school’s single game record with 36 points in a game against Tennyson in 1960. He was named to the All Huntingburg sectional team and was selected by the Evansville Courier-Press as captain of the Southern Indiana players. During Jack’s time with the Ireland Spuds they won 55 games in his three seasons. Jack went on to play for Ole Miss for three years.
