Coach Rick Herdes won over 200 Games while at the helm of the University of Southern Indiana. Winning 12 games in the NCAA Tournament and 114 games in the tough GLVC Conference In the 2006-07 season. He was named the GLVC Coach of the Year as his Eagles went 29 and 6 and were GLVC Conference Champions. His best season was in 2003-04 when the Eagles went 28 -7 and finished National Runner-Up in NCAA D II Championship Game along the way winning the Great Lakes Regional Championship Tournament.  Coach Herdes was an assistant Coach on USI’s 1995 National Title Team to Bruce Pearl and has also worked at SIU Edwardsville and was an assistant on Lawrenceville High School back-to-back Illinois High School State Champions.  A Boys Club Man of the Year and major fundraiser while at USI, coach Herdes was able to coach 12 NCAA All Americans and 4 GLVC Players of the Year. In 2005 Coach Herdes founded the Summer Classic at his Basketball Camp, which brought area high schools together to scrimmage.
